Roma Tre University is very well connected by means of subway and busses to several critical nodes of Rome transport network:
1) Termini Central Station - this is the central land hub of Rome transports. The venue can be reached from there by means of B Subway line (the blue one) or through the 170 Bus Line. The former is faster and more reliable, but the walking distance is a bit longer. The latter is slower, but touches several panoramic spots (Via Nazionale, Piazza Venezia, Teatro Marcello, Santa Maria in Cosmedin (Bocca della Verità), Testaccio etc.).
2) Trastevere Station – this is a smaller train station, and is connected to the venue by the 766 Bus Line
3) Piazza Venezia Bus Stop – this bus stop serves, through the 170 Bus Line, as main connection between the conference venue and the city historical center. Participants can choose accomodations at walking distance from the conference site or in the historical centre of Rome close to the social dinner site (Terrzza del Pincio). In this last case the participants are strongly advised to search accommodation between Piazza Venezia and Piazza del Popolo that is close to Pincio where is located the Casina Valadier in which the social dinner will take place. The two squares (Pizza Venezia-Piazza del Popolo) are connected by the famous Via del Corso (Fontana e'Trevi, Il Vittoriano, etc.). To reach the conference site the closest 170 Bus stop is Piazza Venezia.
TRAIN “ORTE-FARA SABINA”:
The suggested stop for the first train is Trastevere Station. From there, the venue can be reached via bus (766) or Taxi.
TRAIN “LEONARDO EXPRESS”: The train stops at Termini Station. From there take the 170 bus (22 stops) to Viale Marconi or use the B subway.
TAXI: See taxi section.
SHUTTLE BUS: Several transport service offers transfer from Ciampino Airport to Termini Station. A possible option is Terravision that offers a connection with Termini station at 4€. To reach the venue from termini, take the 170 bus (22 stops) to Viale Marconi or use the subway.
TAXI: See taxi section.
Accommodation in Rome for SEPTEMBER around the Conference dates 13-15th:
The Organizing Committee, after an analysis on the economic offers, has decided to subscribe no agreement with Hotels, since this is not the cheapest way to find accommodation in Rome in SEPTEMBER.
The best way, after a comparison of different offers, to find the best one is to use a self-made Hotel search by using the dedicated searching engines available on the web (e.g. Booking.com, Wimdu, AirBnB, Expedia).
Thus, we prefer to give strategic information that can be useful for choosing the Hotel location for all the Conference participants.
We strongly suggest to choose the hotel in the central zone, within Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Venezia (in the nearby of Via del Corso).
We strongly advice to book an Hotel along, or in a short walking distance to, Via del Corso, that is an historical street connecting Piazza del Popolo with Piazza Venezia.
This advice is due to the location of social dinner, which is on a little hill (Pincio) that looks at Piazza del Popolo (where you can enjoy one of the most famous landscapes in the world from the Pincio's Terrace). In fact, even if this location is not nearby to the Workshop site, this one can be easily reached by taking the BUS 170 at the "Piazza Venezia" stop, which is at the end of Via del Corso (the street connecting Piazza del Popolo with Piazza Venezia). You can take the 170 Bus stop in Piazza Venezia having the Vittoriano White building on own right (just below the historical balcony from which the dictator Mussolini declared War on England and France on June 10th, 1940 in the WWII). Then you can get off the Bus at the Marconi/Bertolotti stop, just 100 meters from the Conference site.
Choosing an Hotel nearby Via del Corso and surroundings is, in our opinion, a Global Optimum for those who would like to have the opportunity to enjoy their stay in one of the best artistic and historic location in Rome after the Workshop sessions, and to have the opportunity to make an amazing night walk by returning in their Hotel after the social dinner.
Alternatively, if you are interested to be closer to the workshop site we advise to book the Hotel within the area close to Saint Paul Basilica. There is a Hotel very close to the Workshop site, but it has few rooms: The Saint Paul Hotel (2 minutes walking far from the OIPE2016 site).
Any is your choice for accommodation, we wish to give one important advise: September is considered high season in Rome, the city hosts numerous events and this is the year of the Jubilee. Consider booking transports and accommodation with large advance.
